Candle and reed diffuser inserts

Candle and diffuser inserts that become part of the unboxing

A candle jar is heavy and fragile, and a reed diffuser has a neck and reeds that travel separately. The insert has to fit the product and look good enough to sit in a gift box. We grow inserts from mycelium (the root network of fungi), molded to your jar, bottle and lid, each with its own fibre pattern.

  • Tin candles
  • Candles in ceramic cups
  • Reed diffuser bottles
  • Diffuser refill bottles
  • Sets of several candles in one box

Before designing the insert

6 things to think about when packing candles and diffusers

  1. 01

    Total weight and drop height

These two numbers decide insert thickness more than the material does. Weigh the candle with its jar and lid first.

  2. 02

    Lid and neck

Wooden, metal and glass lids carry load differently. Tell us which you use and we will choose where the insert supports it.

  3. 03

    Heat in transit

Some waxes soften at high temperatures, so avoid leaving parcels in direct sun for long.

  4. 04

    Empty space in the box

Anything that can move in the box can knock against itself. We design the insert to fit the jar so it does not move in the box.

  5. 05

    Bottle neck and reeds

Diffusers usually ship with a stopper and the reeds wrapped separately. Tell us where the reeds should sit and we will add a place for them in the same insert.

  6. 06

Ship a few before you scale

Send two or three boxes through your usual carrier first. If you have a spec to meet, send it and we will test to your conditions and share the results.

Why mycelium

Let the insert tell the same story as your candle

A natural fibre surface

Creamy brown, with a pattern that differs on every piece. It sits beautifully against clear glass and printed labels.

Molded to your jar and bottle

The mold follows your jar, bottle, lid and box, so there is nothing to cut or pad yourself.

Grown on Thai agricultural residues

The material itself is entirely biomass and is not made from petrochemicals.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with candles in glass jars?

Yes. We mold the insert to your jar and lid. How well it protects depends on product weight, insert thickness and how you ship, so we start with a sample you can pack with your real product.

Can you make one insert for a set of several candles?

Send us the size of each candle and of the box. We will look at whether a single tray or separate inserts suits your box, and propose a layout.

Can you make inserts for reed diffuser bottles?

Yes. Send the bottle size, stopper and reed length. We will suggest whether the reeds should sit in a slot in the same insert or in a separate cavity beside the bottle, then send a sample to pack with your real product.

What should we watch for when shipping in hot weather?

Some waxes soften at high temperatures, so avoid leaving parcels in direct sun or in hot vehicles for long. Tell us when and how you ship, and we will design the insert with that in mind.

What does it cost, and is there a minimum order?

Pricing is based on the weight and shape of the insert. The minimum depends on whether a new mold is needed. Send photos and jar sizes and we will estimate.

How should the inserts be stored?

It is a natural material, so store it somewhere dry and ventilated. If your products travel through humid conditions, tell us when we discuss details.
